چکیده

In this paper, we focus on Internet-based multimedia data delivery services (e.g., services provided by Web, FTP, and video-on-demand servers). According the ITU-T (working group SG 12), the Quality of a multimedia service is defined subjectively as perceived by the user and it has defined by a set of user-related parameters: i) delay, ii) delay variation, and iii) information loss. To provide multimedia applications with end-to-end QoS guarantees, an efficient resource reservation and management strategy has to be taken into account. In this paper we present a schema for satisfying multimedia QoS parameters over a real-time operating system, which adopts the Rate Monotonic as a scheduling algorithm (RMA). We also present the design and implementation of a real-time based architecture for Quality Of Service multimedia provisioning. The system allows to define classes of services with different quality attributes concerning the multimedia data delivery.

QoS Provision and Mobility Management in MIND Access Networks and Ad Hoc Extensions

One of the aims of the IST BRAIN was to build and evaluate a wireless IP access network that can simultaneously support mobile users and provide QoS for real time multimedia applications. The IST MIND project extends the BRAIN network by adding support for ad hoc access. This paper first describes the QoS and mobility management concepts developed in BRAIN, and describes the hardware infrastruc...

Qosos: an Adaptable Architecture for Qos Provisioning in Network Operating Systems

1 Abstract – The increasing demand for distributed multimedia applications makes evident the need for end-toend quality of service (QoS) provisioning. Particularly, operating systems, despite their location at end systems, switches or routers, must guarantee that resources under their control are adequately managed to fulfill the application requirements. This work proposes an architecture for ...

H.510 Protocol and HMAL Filter to Support H.323 Multimedia Services in UMTS Networks

Third Generation Mobile Systems (3G) are required to support Multimedia applications with high Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. QoS provisioning is, therefore, a major issue in both third Generation wireless networks and packet based multimedia systems such as H.323-based systems. In this paper we describe the appropriate architecture that enables an H.323 User to get access to H.323 base...

DiffServ QoS Provisioning for Real Time Traffic in Frequent Handoff MobileIPv6 Networks

The next-generation mobile networks are evolving towards a versatile IP-based network that can provide various real-time multimedia services to mobile users. Two major challenges in establishing such a wireless mobile Internet are support of fast handoff and provision of quality of service (QoS) over IP-based wireless access networks. In this article, DiffServ resource allocation architecture i...

Novel Model of Adaptive Module for Security and QoS Provisioning in Wireless Heterogeneous Networks

Considering the fact that Security and Quality-Of-Service (QoS) provisioning for multimedia traffic in Wireless Heterogeneous Networks are becoming increasingly important objectives, in this paper we are introducing a novel adaptive Security and QoS framework. This framework is planned to be implemented in integrated network architecture (UMTS, WiMAX and WLAN). The aim of our novel framework is...
